The tourism industry developed around the world and business travel was revolutionized through the democratization of air travel (low cost) and travels in general. The SIEH (Investment Company and hotel operators), which was renamed as Accor, was founded by two innovative entrepreneurs in 1967, namely Paul Dubrule and Gerard Pelisson.

The first Novotel opened in Lille in 1967, and the brand quickly expanded across France. Through the creation (in 1974 in Ibis, Formule 1 in 1985) and successive acquisitions (Mercury in 1975, Sofitel in 1980, Jacques Borel International in 1982, Motel 6 in the United States in 1990, the Compagnie Internationale des Wagons- beds in 1991), Accor opened its borders to Europe and the world. It is also pursuing a strategy of differentiation, developing a range of service to businesses and public institutions.

It is also pursuing a strategy of differentiation, developing a range of service to businesses and public institutions.

In 1995, Accor, with a business volume of $6 billion in 132 countries with 147,000 employees and 50 brands, was a European leader, and one of the largest global groups in the hotel sector.

The group's activity is now focused on two major international activities: Hotels and Services to corporate clients and public institutions. All its different brands have a very strong presence in countries where they operate and in the world.

Capdevilla Raymond is the leader of the Accor group in the Asian market. Marc Steinmeier was chosen to head the group's operations in the Indonesian market in 1996. In 1997, Accor acquired a new management structure, and Jean-Marc Espalioux was named the CEO.

The hotel sector in the world of travel and tourism provides hospitality and related services. The clients of this type of accommodation are both individual travelers, families, groups but most of the clientele consists of businessmen traveling to attend a meeting or a business meeting.

In this sector the main trades are related to design, project management, management and marketing services. The services offered can be promoted independently to promote its own products, or through partnerships with other agencies or other tourism companies.

For this sector, industrial activity is limited to the construction of resorts and tourism. The main activity though is linked to services (accomodation, food), to propse solutions to individuals, businesses and public institutions.

Indonesia, the group's strategic front in the mid 90's, is a growth market with excellent prospects for further growth. Nevertheless it is necessary to focus on innovation and investment.
Accor is a global company with 147000 employees, which makes control all the more difficult in a local SME. The company has a good quality image and makes every effort to control and maintain this image.
