British legislative elections since 1945
The Labor Party, that was led by Atlee won between 1945 and 1950. This government was formed after the Second World War and laid the foundations of the welfare State through economic (nationalization) and social (health) reforms.
1951, 1955 and 1959 saw the victory of the Conservative Party that was led by Churchill, Eden and Macmillan respectively. Their governments pursued social reforms (including an ambitious housing program).
