Destination sites attract visitors for various reasons including historical, heritage, cultural and religious reasons to name but a few. Destination and attraction sites that come to mind in relation to visitor attraction feature such attractions such as animal parks and safaris, coastal towns and beaches or theme parks and religious sites. Grand Station in New York would not immediately come to mind when one thinks of tourist and visitor attraction yet it is the sixth most visited tourist attraction. About 22 million people visit the Grand Station annually as a visitor destination site. This report shall examine and analyze Grand Station as a destination site. For the purpose of analyzing Grand Station in New York City, USA, we shall be using the definition of a destination as an eco-system of visitor attractions, with care being taken in the analysis as it attracts a large volume of commuter traffic. Doing otherwise would lead to an incorrect analysis since commuters are not in Grand Station for visitation purposes. There are various definitions for a visitor attraction; a primary purpose of which is to allow access for entertainment, interest or education? and should be capable of attracting tourists or day visitors as well as local residents.
