According to Wikipedia, a cinema is "a place where's arranged the screening of films."The production of films is becoming more numerous and the number of multiplexes growing on the outskirts of French cities. Some films like "Welcome to the Sticks" (produced and directed by Dany Boon) have box office records that exceeded 13 million. There were no signs that indicated the onset of the current crisis that French cinema is facing.

Instead of adding to the already vast archive of the negative effects of piracy and the Internet, I am interested in the film industry and its stakeholders.
The French public gradually lost interest in dark theatre halls and began devoting more time to other recreation or entertainment. This is when the question "Is the cinema doomed?" arises.

First, we will study the film industry at large through its evolution over the past ten years. Then we will outline the opportunities and threats of the distribution, exploitation ,the production and direction of films. In the second part, we will talk about the new technologies that are emerging within the film industry that could give new impetus to the sector. We will conclude with possible solutions to help the film industry solve its problems as quickly as possible.

The tickets to the cinema:
In France, the prices of movie tickets are determined by the exhibitors. They pay the distributors a percentage that varies between 20% and 50%. If the operator decides to have a promotional period on the price of its entrance tickets, the distributor's cut will be affected. These promotions have been governed by a "code of conduct" since 1999. The code limits the promotion to only 2 weeks every year for each theatre. In June 2007, this code was challenged.

Relationship between operators and distributors:
The movie industry has been evolving for many years and its problems have also been evolving gradually. Tensions have arisen between the players of the industry, the conflicts are most sensitive between operators and the distributors.
Operators have tried to win over viewers by modernizing their fleet but the cost is much higher than the returns.

With regard to the distribution, we can note that there is a decided fragmentation of the sector and television is a growing threat. In addition, operating costs have risen, mainly because of the increased cost of printing and advertising.

The number of films that are being shown in cinemas have risen in the last 10 years. However, increased costs for operators and distributors are causing some tensions on certain subjects.

Despite numerous discussions between these two parties, They have not yet reached an agreement. However, there is the need to reach a settlement as soon as possible because their disputes are affecting the industry.
