Communication has been a humanistic function that has been present since the beginning of mankind. Communication is the process on how, we as human being share, and exchange information to each other. The way we communicate is not limited to information flow, but also expresses control, motivation, emotional expression through the words that are spoken, and signals by body language (Robbins & Judge, 2009). This paper discusses communication process in an organization of the members in Team C. Included in this discussion are describing the communication climate in your organization, what are the strengths and weaknesses of your work organization's communication, and does the management approach of your organization's supervisors, managers, and executives contribute to or detract from effective communication (University of Phoenix, 2010).
The communication climate at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam Security Department (JBPHH-SD) is currently a mix between effective and ineffective using both the chain and wheel network models. The United States Air Force (USAF) and Navy (USN) military components effectively use the chain communication network because of their rank hierarchical structures (Robbins & Judge, 2009).
[...] Contrarily, the weaknesses of communications within JBPHH-SD are low expectations, minimal accomplishments, and focus on short-term problems. Every one of the former weaknesses stems from the widespread dysfunction of communications within the civil service components of JBPHH-SD. For example, performance appraisals have only two options, satisfactory or unsatisfactory, negating any of the differences between excellent and poor performers. The management approach of an organization's supervisors, managers, and executives do contribute or detract from effective communication (University of Phoenix, 2010). JBPHH-SD uses a couple of management approaches to motivate its personnel to undertake change, which are transactional and transformational leadership. [...]

For example, if a security guard on post or in guard mount has a question on JBPHH base access procedures and want an accurate answer he or she would address it to the watch commander. Unfortunately, addressing the question to a lieutenant or sergeant often results in an error of procedures that will cause additional issues, such as the inconsistency of base access procedures in the public's eye; whereas, increasing the watch stander's frustration.
