The Carrefour Company has been in France for the last 40 years and is ranked second in the global retail sector. Founded in 1959 in Annecy, it is not only present in Europe, South America and Asia, but also in other areas of the world through local partnerships. Today the group has 218 hypermarkets in France and 621 in Europe and 201 in Latin America and 202 in Asia.

The Carrefour group is ranked first in Europe and second worldwide in the retail sector just behind Wal-Mart. The Carrefour group is interested in other retail formats: the hard discounters (5737) ED, DIA convenience stores (3128) Shopi, eight to eight, supermarkets Champion (3128), Globi , the Cash and Carry (154) food trade for professionals and e-commerce, and These brands offer different Carrefour positioning multi formats.

In 2006, the Carrefour group had annual sales of 96.171 billion euros representing an increase of 3%. All stores are connected through new information technologies that enable efficient communication and a good flow of information and also allow the pooling of purchasing, to compare the daily management that are most relevant. Claira Carrefour is in the Department of Pyrene Orientales and has a border crossing with Spain. It is a department of strong tradition of Catalan culture that results Carrefour Claira to adapt to supply to the demands.

It is also a dynamic department with its 395,000 inhabitants experiencing strong seasonal migration that leads to triple its population. Carrefour Claira achieved a turnover in 2006 of €96,171,242 with €83,681,424 (or 87.01%) of normal sales and €12,489,818 (or 12.99%) of promotions.
The business unit of Carrefour is located in a commercial area. The population of its catchment area is constantly increasing. The business unit has 12,000 sq ft divided into five areas: home, textiles, entertainment, food and service and the sales taxes varied in 2005 with € 96,171,242, and an average basket of € 56.27 per customer.

The average yield per square meter amounted to €8,014.27 € 7,467.91 per year against the rival Champion in the town of St Laurent de la Salanque and €6226.42 for common Leclerc Perpignan. The turnover of the fruit and vegetable department in 2005 were €3,557,837, TTC representing 3.69% of total turnover of the store. It also had a turnover of € 5929 per sqm.
