Francis Ysidro Edgeworth (1845-1926) was an English economist generally associated with the neo-classical thought. The author of the famous Mathematical Psychics in 1881, he is a pioneer in the use of mathematics in economics.

At the origin of many concepts, now considered the foundation of today's economy, such as indifference curves, F. Y. Edgeworth has focused his work on the theories of balance of trade, by developing a chart and the eponymous curve of the contracts. This document explains the features of his work.
