The Second World War was the deadliest conflict that humanity has ever seen. After this horrible war people hoped to live in a world that was finally stable and peaceful but after 1945, the fear of a third world war emerged. The world was divided American bloc and the Soviet bloc, between capitalism and communism.

The rivalry between the two blocks had been going on for a while and now manifested itself into the cold war that lasted from 1945 to 1962.

This paper first studies the origin and the development of the two blocs between 1945 and 1948. It then looks at the relationship between the Americans and Soviets between 1948 and 1953.
