Affirmative action is mentioned in association with efforts to promote social equalities at work places. Legislation was used to enforce and guarantee equality initiatives in organizations. These initiatives protected persons like the disabled the elderly, gender groups and others (Glenda, John & Anne, 2004: 196). Association of Research Libraries, Systems and Procedures Exchange Center, Association of Research Libraries and Office of Management Services (1990) educate that affirmative action is a set of procedures which are result-oriented towards protecting the rights of those vulnerable to discrimination in situations which successful persons gain on unfair grounds.
