It is true that many fields of photography are of interest to specialists only equipped with very sophisticated cameras and equipment, but it is also true that much can be attained with what one already possesses. An amateur can broaden the scope of his work more by his think process and creativity. Unfortunately, many photographic magazines have been guilty of printing crude and gimmicky pictures which have hardly any aesthetic value. Such valueless photographs have done much harm to the art of photography.

[...] The photographer should keep his feet apart for a steadier support and draw his elbows closer to the ribs. The ideal support would be, of course, a tripod, but a tripod is not a sure- shot remedy if not used properly. Any camera with a long and heavy telephoto lens is subject to vibration, whether it is supported at its centre of gravity or not. A good way to avoid such vibrations is to mount the camera itself on a rigid tripod and give additional support to the front end of the telephoto lens. [...]
