Poverty is the lack of basic necessities like clean water, nutrition, health care, education, clothing etc. This condition is due to the inability of people to be able to afford these necessities. Poverty in France has fallen by almost 60% in the last thirty years. According to the statistics released by the INSEE, only 3.7 million people in France were living under the poverty line in 2001. This just constitutes only 6.1% of the population. However, Bidonvilles (Shanty towns) continue to be France's problem. Despite active measures to rehouse the people in Bidonvilles, the number of people living here hasn't decreased. In this document, we will look the the evolution of poverty in France, along with the people who have been affected by it. We will also look at the other countries in the world, which have been affected by poverty. Then, we will discuss the various measures adopted by these countries to improve their situation, and oust poverty.
