The smoking epidemic began in the 1890s with the installation of cigarette factories. When early lung cancers occurred in 1930, advertising aimed at women was already effective. The tobacco industry succeeded in introducing the smoking habit in all social categories. In 1970, the price of cigarettes was the most accessible, but now after 30 years of smoking, the serious health effects related to it are beginning to appear in health statistics. Tobacco is often regarded as a necessity by the smoker. It provides improved concentration, stress reduction, etc.
