In today's environment of advanced medical practices and practitioners, it still amazes me that some doctor's are so set in their ways that they are not willing to try alternative therapies for more debilitating conditions. When scientists can clone animals, cure diseases from newborn stem cells and put stints in major arteries to restore blood flow to vital areas, it would lead me to believe that most medical practitioners would be open to trying almost anything to help their patients.

[...] We were lucky enough to have a physician that spent his Christmas holiday delving deeper into my son's problem and even visiting us on Christmas Eve and Christmas day while we were in the hospital. By the grace of God and because our physician would not give up, we discovered that my son did not have this rare disorder, instead he had a familial trait that caused production of excess sugar in the urine that both my father and myself also suffer from. We left the hospital after a week or so with confidence and hope because our doctor did everything he could to discover what was wrong. [...]
