In his book Emerging Adulthood: The Winding Road from the Late Teens through the Twenties, Dr. Jeffrey Jensen Arnett details research he has conducted shedding light on emerging adulthood. Arnett can be considered at the forefront of research of this kind. According to his biographical information (, he is the editor for the Journal of Adolescent Research, as well as the chair of the Special Interest Group on Emerging Adulthood sponsored by the Society for Research on Adolescence. Arnett received his Ph.D. in developmental psychology from the University of Virginia in 1986, and followed up with several years of postdoctoral work at the University of Chicago. From 1992-1998 he served as an associate professor of Human Development and Family Studies at the University of Missouri.
