How to finance a company

In the current context, it seems increasingly more complex to secure financing for a business. Indeed, credit organisations are increasingly reluctant to grant loans for fear that companies will not be able to repay them in the long term.

Conversely, companies need financing to get started and make themselves known to customers. To do this, they need a solid case and organisations willing to place their trust in them. The loan, in its general sense, is no longer only available in banks, and more and more solutions are now available to companies.

There are different ways to fund a business.

Personal contribution

The first is the personal contribution, and it is undoubtedly one of the surest ways to obtain financing or at least initial financing. Where possible, entrepreneurs draw on their own reserves to complete an initial loan application. Banks or other organisations are often better able to lend money when a down payment is available. It is also the simplest method to set up since it does not require the establishment to be validated or an appointment with a third party.

Aid and subsidies

Another technique is to benefit from aid and subsidies that are available depending on the field of activity and the presumed size of the company as well as its situation. The health crisis and the conflicts in Ukraine have brought other types of aid for businesses. Subsidies and other public funding can certainly make it possible to start a business but also to develop it by offering other activities. Several criteria must be taken into account to be able to benefit from it, and it can also take time before being accepted. These aids can be obtained within the framework of lucrative or non-profit enterprises. Generally, aid is given by the State or by the various existing communities, such as the region or the department. The main objective of these organisations is to respond to an ever-increasing demand from business creators.
Finally, it should be noted that there is more or less specific aid depending on the profile of the applicant or the company in question. For example, women and young entrepreneurs can be granted certain aids to get their businesses off to a good start.
As far as subsidies are concerned, they come from specialised organisations and are given under certain conditions. They are different depending on the field of activity and/or regions.

Bank loans

A third option is to apply for a bank loan for professionals, which is somewhat different from that granted to individuals. It is intended for companies, craftsmen, or even farmers. The loan allows applicants to be able to buy the necessary equipment, whether to start or develop their activity. It can cover real estate, various equipment, and cash needs.
In this type of credit, the payment is made in one or more instalments according to the request of the borrower, and the reimbursement begins as soon as all the funds have been paid into the account. It can be spread over several years, exactly as when applying for a private loan. Finally, it is also possible in the same way to repay the loan before the due date in the event of strong cash inflows at one time or another.

Crowdfunding

There are platforms on the net that allow you to raise funds, and in exchange, these platforms receive income in the form of a commission. Entrepreneurs can collect large sums while limiting the risks associated with traditional types of credit. The higher the number of donors, the faster the business can emerge and/or grow. Those who invest have the advantage of knowing exactly what their money is being used for, why, and how. Crowdfunding can be found in three main forms: donation, investment, and loan.

IPO (initial public offer)

The benefits can be numerous, such as accelerating the growth of a group or strengthening the visibility of a company, whether nationally or globally. With this method, recruitment is also facilitated. It would seem that this option has had growing success in recent years, thanks, in particular, to a large amount of available liquidity and the very enviable performance of the stock market.

ICO (initial coin offer)

The ICO (initial coin offer) is an operation to collect funds. Companies in need of funding issue tokens, and potential investors subscribe thanks to the emergence of cryptocurrencies. If the company is functioning properly and becomes sustainable, it should be noted that investors will be able to access a set of products and/or services from the company in which they have invested. It is an increasingly popular source of financing. It uses new technologies and, most of the time concerns companies that are only very underdeveloped.

CONCLUSION

Despite the many ways that exist to finance a business, it is increasingly complex to reach a financing agreement with traditional tools such as banks and other credit organisations. For this reason, entrepreneurs tend to turn more and more to so-called "alternative" solutions to have a better chance of making their projects profitable in the long term.
