The article is about the problems of Nigeria. The country has many pluses that could promote its development : a young, dynamic and vast population , an important growth rate , natural resources particularly oil , an foreign educated diaspora coming back in the country, and some big international firms have already invested in Nigeria (like Nestlé, Diageo or Lafarge Wapco). Still, Nigeria remains poor and its development is difficult to achieve . Corruption seems to be the most significant problem from which many of the problems of the country proceed. Indeed, corruption is everywhere, in the oil refineries, in the infrastructures regarding roads, health, education? and even occurs on the stock market. Finally, corruption also leads to problems of safety and protests in Nigeria. It would be inaccurate to talk about ?civil war? in that case , nevertheless, an Islamist sect ?Boko Haram? is active in the North of the country , and many protests are rising among the middle-class population in particular against the fuel corruption (see Figure 1): both seem linked with the problem of weak institutions.
