The market for nutritional complements (CN) is developing dynamically in Russia. Nevertheless, their share in pharmaceutical sales is only 4%. The consumption growth of CN is due to the unfavorable ecological situation and poor structure of the power and the relative ease of recording and production.
CN in Russian pharmacies is offered by 778 producers, who manufacture 3768 items, including sales through retail pharmacies, which, in 2005, exceeded 300 million dollars.
There is the seasonal nature of sales of CN. Their decline takes place every year in the 2nd and 3rd semester.
The peculiarity of the market for CN, unlike that drug, is the dominant role of Russian producers. Their share (in Russian rubles) during the first six months of 2005 and 2006 were 69% and 70% respectively.
This was three times higher than foreign producers. Also, the physical volume of CN that is sold from Russia is four times larger than that of foreign producers.
